🛠️ Bug Fix: Enabled Re-Highlighting After Deletion
Fixed an issue where users couldn't create a new highlight in the same area after deleting one, unless they refreshed the page and reactivated ZetaMarker. In version 7.4, re-highlighting now works instantly.

🆕 Multi-paragraph Highlight Comments
In previous versions, you couldn't use the Enter key in the comment box, which limited your ability to organize comments across multiple lines. In version 7.3, we've addressed this issue, allowing you to write multi-line and multi-paragraph comments on your highlights. This makes it easier to add detailed and well-organized annotations!

🆕 Easy Bug Reporting
We've made it easier for you to report issues! When ZetaMarker is activated on a page, you'll now see a small ⚠️ icon on the rightmost side of the page. Click this button to report any issues—whether it's a highlighting problem, missing annotations, sync errors, or anything else. This helps us quickly identify and fix problems on specific URL.
🔄 Shortcut Change for Better Compatibility
We've updated the default shortcut for activating ZetaMarker:
Windows/Linux: Ctrl + Shift + K
Mac: Command + Shift + K
This change resolves conflicts with apps like Google Drive. You can still customize shortcuts via ZetaMarker settings.
🛠️ Bug Fix: Improved PDF URL Detection
We fixed an issue where ZetaMarker sometimes failed to recognize full URLs in the PDF viewer. Now, all your highlights and annotations should work seamlessly on PDFs.

Update Page URLs for Persistent Access
You can now update the URL of an annotated page if the website owner changes it. This ensures that your annotations remain accessible even when a page's URL is modified. If your data is synced, the update will be reflected in the cloud.
1️⃣ Open Pages from the toolbar.
2️⃣ Locate the page you want to update.
3️⃣ Click the Edit URL icon and enter the new address.
Add Notes to Entire Pages
Previously, you could only add comments to highlighted text. Now, you can attach general notes to an entire page. Whether summarizing key points or jotting down thoughts, page-level comments help you keep track of important insights.
1️⃣ Open the sidebar.
2️⃣ Click the Page Comment icon (next to the Edit Title icon).
3️⃣ A text area will appear where you can enter your note.
Bug Fix: Pages Not Opening in Browser
Some users reported that they couldn’t open their annotated Pages in the browser. This issue has been resolved.
Bug Fix: PDF Viewer Issues in Version 7.0
A bug affecting the PDF viewer in version 7.0 prevented it from functioning correctly. This has now been fixed, restoring smooth PDF annotation.

Auto-Synchronization for Seamless Workflow
ZetaMarker now automatically synchronizes your data with the cloud whenever you activate the extension (if logged in). Highlights are loaded directly onto the page after synchronization. In case synchronization fails, the tool will load data from your local device so you can continue working. Changes made on the page are saved to the cloud every 10 seconds, removing the need for manual updates. Offline users can still work with local data, which syncs once they log in. To disable auto-sync, simply log out of your account.
Store Page Titles in the Cloud
Page titles are now saved alongside your annotations in the cloud whenever a page is synchronized. This ensures a more organized and searchable data repository.
Page Titles Included in Exports
When exporting your annotations as TXT, Markdown, or HTML - or when printing them - the page title is now automatically included in the output, offering better context for your notes.
Bug Fix: Synced Highlight Colors
Resolved an issue where synced highlight colors were not updating properly across devices.
Bug Fix: Deleting All Highlights on a Synced Page
Fixed a bug where deleting all highlights on a synced page failed to remove the page itself from the cloud and local devices.
Other Minor Bug Fixes
Various backend issues and minor bugs that were not visible to users have been addressed to improve overall performance and reliability.

Improved PDF Viewer Compatibility
We've fixed an issue with our PDF viewer that previously caused difficulties in opening certain online PDF files. Users should now be able to open most online PDFs without any trouble.
Ukrainian Language Support
ZetaMarker now supports the Ukrainian language, allowing users to interact with the extension in Ukrainian for a more localized experience.

Sidebar Sorting Options
We've added sorting capabilities directly in the sidebar. Choose from three sorting options:
- Earliest: Arrange your highlights from the earliest to the latest.
- Latest: Organize your highlights from the most recent to the oldest.
- Position: Sort your highlights according to their position on the page, top to bottom.
When you export your highlights, they will now follow the sorting order you’ve selected in the sidebar. Whether you prefer chronological order or the natural flow of the document, your exports will match your chosen organization.

Bug Resolved in Color Update
We fixed an issue where updating the color of a highlight would not display the correct colors. This bug was introduced in version 6.2 and is now resolved in version 6.3.
Improvement in Red Highlight Visibility
Resolved an issue where text highlighted in red was not visible. The text color now changes to white when highlighted in red, ensuring better readability.

ZetaMarker Notifier
We developed a simple Chrome extension, ZetaMarker Notifier, to enhance your highlighting experience. Your privacy matters, so ZetaMarker only activates when you choose, keeping your data safe. To help you know if a page is already highlighted before activating ZetaMarker, we created ZetaMarker Notifier. It saves page URLs when you highlight them and quietly alerts you if a page is highlighted when you return, all while respecting your privacy. Bug Resolved in Markdown Export
In version 6.0, the exported Markdown file didn't include your notes. We resolved this issue in version 6.1.

Optimized Performance
Enhanced the overall performance of the extension for a smoother user experience.
Improved Sidebar Layout
The export button is now prominently displayed right above the list of highlights for easier access. The login/logout, settings, change theme color, user guide, feedback are consolidated under a user icon button at the top of the sidebar. Additionally, action buttons for each highlight are now always visible, reducing confusion and improving usability.
Enhanced Dark Page Experience
We've improved the visibility and clarity of highlights on dark pages, ensuring a better user experience in dark mode.
New Export Options
Two new export options have been added: "Copy All" allows you to quickly copy all highlights to your clipboard, and "Markdown Files" lets you export highlights as Markdown files for easier integration with markdown editors.

Multiple Toolbar Options
Experience enhanced flexibility with ZetaMarker's latest update, offering a choice between a sleek minimal toolbar and a comprehensive full-featured sidebar. The default is set to minimal, but effortlessly switch between them and tailor your default toolbar through the sidebar settings. Drag the minimal toolbar across the screen and easily hide it to streamline your workspace.
Improved Sidebar Layout
The redesigned sidebar in ZetaMarker 5.0 opens gracefully on the left side of the page without covering your content. Instead, it intelligently shifts the page's content to the right, ensuring a seamless and unobtrusive user experience.
"My Pages"
"My Pages" in ZetaMarker 5.0 now conveniently opening in a new tab for a more organized workflow. Enjoy new features such as page deletion, syncing annotations with the cloud, and the ability to bookmark "My Pages" for quick access without activating ZetaMarker on a page.
Settings Customization
Effortlessly personalize your ZetaMarker experience with the new settings menu. Click on the sidebar's settings icon to access a range of customization options, including selecting your preferred default toolbar, adjusting the highlighter cursor's default color, fine-tuning the default theme, and tailoring ZetaMarker shortcuts.
Access to Web App via ZetaMarker PC
The Beta release of our web app is now live at app.zetamarker.com. Now you can access and manage your synced pages and annotations without the need for the ZetaMarker extension.

New feature: Local PDF File Support
You can now easily open and annotate your local PDF files using our built-in PDF viewer. To get started, make sure to grant ZetaMarker access to file URLs. To annotate a local PDF file, open it with the browser extension where ZetaMarker is installed, and click the ZetaMarker icon in the browser to activate it for your PDF file, just as you do for web pages.

Bug Resolved: Google Sign-Up
The issue with "signing up with Google" has been successfully resolved. Our users can now proceed with their Google accounts, eliminating the need to create a separate account with ZetMarker. Thank you for your patience and feedback.
Enhanced User Privacy
ZetaMarker 2 prioritizes user privacy by eliminating the need for broad host permission. Unlike previous versions, we no longer request excessive data access. With our latest update, users have full control over which web pages to activate ZetaMarker on. This unique level of control sets our annotating tool apart from competitors, providing peace of mind regarding data security and privacy. Activate ZetaMarker on a page by clicking its icon or using the CTRL+I shortcut.
Improved User Experience with a Side Panel
With ZetaMarker activated on a page, a sleek side panel gracefully appears on the right side of your screen. This panel allows easy management of highlights, including deleting, updating comments, and changing colors effortlessly. Access all essential actions like cloud synchronization conveniently within the side panel. Personalize your experience by choosing between dark and light themes, which can be particularly useful when viewing dark web pages.
Highlighter Cursor
Once activated, your cursor transforms into a highlighter icon, making text highlighting a breeze with your pre-selected color. Quickly mark essential parts of the pages you read. Activate it through the side panel or with the ALT+Shift+H shortcut.
Google Account Login
Now, easily access cloud features with your Google account, eliminating the need for a separate ZetaMarker account. Sign in using your Google credentials and manage your ZetaMarker data effortlessly. No login required for local usage.
Simplified Annotation Updates
In the previous version, you had to click an highlighted text on the web page to open the annotation tool for updating. In version 2.0, you can easily and quickly update highlights on the side panel (whether you want to change your comments, change colors, or delete your highlights).

Get started with ZetaMarker instantly, no account creation necessary for local usage. Install the app on your devices and begin annotating your favorite pages right away. However, to access cloud features, you will need to have a ZetaMarker account.
Comment icon added
