Your data is handled securely, and we employ anonymization techniques before utilizing it for analysis. Safeguarding your data privacy is our top priority.
While we take precautions to protect your information, we strongly advise against synchronizing annotations containing personal or sensitive data. Please exercise caution when using this feature.
4. Product Analytics on the Web Dashboard
When you use the ZetaMarker web dashboard (app.zetamarker.com), we use PostHog, a product analytics provider, to understand how the dashboard is used and to improve our product experience.
PostHog may process, on our behalf:
- Product usage events (for example, which dashboard features you use and general navigation within the dashboard)
- Technical and device information (such as browser type, operating system, and approximate location derived from IP address, as processed by PostHog)
- A stable identifier associated with your ZetaMarker account, so we can understand usage across sessions
We configure these analytics for product improvement. We do not use this analytics tooling to collect the content of your highlights, notes, or the text of pages you annotate. Session recording (session replay) is not enabled for this purpose.

5. Disclosure of Personal Information
ZetaMarker may disclose personal information to third-party service providers that help us operate our tool, such as hosting providers, payment processors, and analytics providers (including PostHog, as described above). ZetaMarker stores personal information securely on servers provided by our cloud storage. By default, the tool stores user activities data, including annotations and highlights, in their device's local storage. However, if a user explicitly requests the tool to store their data in the cloud, we will securely store their data on our servers. We take reasonable measures to protect personal information from unauthorized access, use, or disclosure.
Analytics data processed by PostHog is stored and handled according to PostHog’s practices and our configuration of that service.
