You're all set on Firefox for Android. ZetaMarker highlights web pages on your phone or tablet. Highlights save locally right away — no account required. Sign in later when you want cloud sync and the web dashboard.
Private by design: On a site you haven’t used before, ZetaMarker stays off until you turn it on. Tap the ZetaMarker icon at the bottom of the page to enable it for that site. Your everyday browsing stays under your control.
1. Enable, then highlight
- Open an article or page you want to annotate.
- If this is a new site, tap the ZetaMarker icon at the bottom of the page (Enable ZetaMarker on this site).
- Long-press (or select) the text you care about.
- Tap a color on the toolbar to save the highlight.
- Tap an existing highlight to edit or remove it.
Tip: After you’ve enabled a site, use the ZetaMarker logo menu for Settings, Local pages, Open in app, a page note, or Don't run on this site (turns ZetaMarker off for that domain).
2. Open Settings
Tap the ZetaMarker action in Firefox (or open the add-on from Firefox’s extensions menu) to open Settings. There you can sign in, check sync status, and jump to documentation.
3. Browse local highlights
From the logo menu or Settings, open Local pages to see pages you’ve annotated on this device — useful when you’re offline or not signed in yet.
4. Cloud sync and dashboard (optional)
You can highlight locally without an account. To sync across devices and use the web library:
- Create an account — includes a 7-day Pro trial (no credit card required).
- Sign in from Settings.
- Your highlights sync to the web dashboard.

What’s different from desktop?
- No toolbar pin step — Firefox Android uses the extensions / action menu.
- Each new site needs a one-tap enable (bottom icon) before highlighting works.
- No in-extension PDF highlighter yet (use the desktop extension for PDFs).
- No desktop sidebar or keyboard shortcuts — management stays in the page menu, Settings, and the web dashboard.
