Cloud sync
How highlights and pages sync between the Chrome extension and ZetaMarker dashboard, including sync status indicators and troubleshooting.
ZetaMarker keeps your highlights and pages in sync between the Chrome extension and the dashboard at app.zetamarker.com.
What syncs

You must be signed in on both sides with the same account.
Sync status in the extension
The sidebar footer shows sync state:
| Indicator | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Sync: Synced | Up to date |
| Sync in progress… | Sync in progress |
| Sync: Not active | Not signed in — changes stay local |
| Sync: Failed | Sync failed — retry or sign in again |
Click the sync icon when you see Sync: Pending changes (click Sync Now) to run a manual sync.
After login
When you sign in in the extension:
- Syncing with cloud… — uploads and downloads changes with the cloud
- Sync: Synced — returns when sync finishes
Dashboard side
The dashboard reads from the API in real time — there is no separate "sync" button. Changes from the extension appear after the next pull (automatic on extension open or manual sync).
Common issues

| Highlights missing on one device | Sign out and in; click sync when Sync: Pending changes (click Sync Now) |
| Sync: Not active (click to login) | Sign in via extension or dashboard |
| Page deleted in cloud still in extension | Wait for sync or refresh extension sidebar |
| PDF highlights differ | Open the same PDF URL; see View PDFs in the dashboard |

Bulk actions on pages
Select multiple pages in the dashboard to delete, label, star, or export in one step. Bulk export is limited to 10 pages at a time.
Update your account for cloud sync
If you used ZetaMarker before our latest extension and dashboard release, complete a one-time account update on the web dashboard to restore cloud sync. Your local highlights stay in your browser.
