Sign out and local mode
Log out of cloud sync in the extension or dashboard, continue with local-only highlights, and sign back in when ready.
You can use ZetaMarker without cloud sync. Signing out pauses sync but keeps highlights saved locally in the browser.
Sign out from the extension
- Open the sidebar Options menu (web pages) or the PDF toolbar Options menu.
- Click Logout.
What happens:
- Toast: Cloud sync off. Highlights on this page stay saved locally.
- Sync indicator shows Sync: Not active
- Your highlights remain in browser storage on that device
Sign in again with Login in the same menu when you want cloud sync back.
Continue without cloud sync
When a migration or subscription toast blocks sync, you can dismiss it:
- Close the toast with Continue without cloud sync (X or secondary action).
- Same result as logout — local highlights stay; cloud sync pauses.
Use Open dashboard on that toast if you need to migrate your account or upgrade your plan.
Auth lost in another tab
If you sign out elsewhere: Cloud sync stopped — you signed out in another tab.
Re-login from the extension to resume sync.
Sign out from the dashboard
- Click your profile in the dashboard header.
- Choose Logout.
This clears your dashboard session and redirects to /app/login. It does not delete extension local highlights — the extension keeps its own auth storage until you log out there too.
