ZetaMarker

Delete your account

Permanently delete your ZetaMarker account from the dashboard — what is removed, what stays on your device, subscriptions, and signing up again.

You can permanently delete your ZetaMarker account from the web dashboard. This guide explains what happens, what we remove, what may stay on your computer, and what to expect if you sign up again later.

Account deletion is permanent. We cannot restore your cloud pages, highlights, labels, or uploaded PDFs after you confirm.

Where to delete your account

  1. Sign in at app.zetamarker.com.
  2. Open Settings (avatar menu → Account Settings).
  3. Open the Account tab.
  4. Scroll to Delete Account and click Delete Account.

See Account settings for profile, password, and other options.

How confirmation works

To prevent accidents, ZetaMarker asks you to confirm carefully:

  1. Read the warning in the dialog — it lists what will be removed.
  2. Type DELETE in the confirmation field (exactly as shown).
  3. Email and password accounts — enter your current password.
  4. Google sign-in accounts — type DELETE only; there is no password field.

If the password is wrong, deletion is canceled and your account stays active.

What is deleted

When deletion completes, we permanently remove from our servers:

RemovedDetails
Pages and highlightsAll web pages and PDFs in your cloud library, including notes and highlights
Labels and filtersCustom labels and saved organization
Uploaded PDFsFiles stored in cloud PDF storage
Your loginYou are signed out on the web dashboard, browser extension, and any other connected clients

Pages in Trash are deleted as part of this — account deletion does not wait for Trash’s 30-day window.

What is not deleted automatically

On your deviceDetails
Local-only highlightsHighlights that never synced to the cloud may remain in browser storage on that computer
The extensionWe do not uninstall the extension — only your cloud account and sync access

After deletion, the extension shows that your account is no longer active. Cloud sync stays off until you sign in with a new or different account.

Subscription and billing

If you have a Pro trial or paid Pro subscription, deleting your account ends it immediately.

  • Active or trialing Pro — subscription is canceled right away. Remaining paid time is not refunded.
  • Canceled subscription with access until a future date — deleting now removes all data and access immediately, even if paid time would have remained.

If you only want to stop billing but keep your highlights, cancel from Settings → Subscription instead of deleting your account. Cancellation stops future charges; it does not delete your library.

Deletion vs sign out vs Trash

Signing up again with the same email

You can create a new ZetaMarker account with the same email address (or the same Google account) after deletion. Here is what that means in plain terms:

It is a new account

Your old cloud library does not come back. Pages, highlights, labels, and PDFs from the deleted account are gone forever. We do not merge old data into a new account.

Pro trial eligibility

If you already used a free Pro trial on that email, you cannot start another trial on a new account. This prevents repeated free trials on the same address. You can still use ZetaMarker Free and upgrade to Pro anytime for cloud sync and full dashboard features.

When this applies, we show a message in the dashboard and send a welcome email so expectations are clear.

Extension after re-signup

  1. Create your account or sign in again with the same email or Google account.
  2. Open the extension and sign in with that same identity.
  3. Do not uninstall the extension to fix sign-in — uninstalling can delete local-only highlights stored only in the browser.

The extension updates its link to your new account automatically. See One account per browser profile if you see a device message.

Before you delete — checklist

  • Export highlights you need — Export highlights from the dashboard while you can still sign in.
  • Stop billing only? Use Pro trial and subscription instead of deleting.
  • Shared computer? Deletion signs you out everywhere; local highlights may still be visible in the browser until you clear them separately.

After deletion

You are redirected to the login page. Your old account no longer works for sign-in. You can create a new account whenever you are ready.

If you deleted by mistake, contact support. We cannot recover deleted cloud data, but we can help with billing questions.
