ZetaMarker

Open the ZetaMarker sidebar

View, search, and manage highlights on the current page from the extension sidebar.

Open the sidebar

Click the ZetaMarker icon in your browser toolbar while viewing a web page or PDF. The sidebar opens on the right side and lists every highlight on the current URL.

Keyboard shortcut: Ctrl+Shift+E / Cmd+Shift+E — toggle the sidebar. See Keyboard shortcuts.

You can keep reading while the sidebar is open — the page content shifts to make room.

What you can do in the sidebar

  • Jump to a highlight — click a card to scroll the page to that passage.

  • Sort — Earliest, Latest, or By position on the page. See Sort and navigate highlights.
  • Edit the page title — change how this page appears in your library. See Edit a page title.
  • Page notes — add notes for the whole page (collapsible section). See Add page notes.
  • Change highlight color or comments — use controls on each card, or select text and use the toolbar.

  • Sync indicator — check sync status and run manual sync. See Cloud synchronization.

Sign in from the sidebar

Use Login in the user menu to sign in from the extension. When logged out, the sync icon shows Sync: Not active (click to login).

Close the sidebar

Click the ZetaMarker icon again, click outside the sidebar, or navigate to another page. Your highlights remain saved whether the sidebar is open or closed.

PDF sidebar

The PDF viewer uses the same sidebar model. After PDF migration, check Needs review for highlights that need manual placement — see Fix highlights after PDF migration.
