Sign in from the extension
Log in to ZetaMarker from the extension sidebar to enable cloud sync, the dashboard library, and cross-device highlights.
Sign in from the browser extension to sync highlights with your ZetaMarker account and dashboard.
When to sign in
Sign in when you want:
- Highlights to appear in the web dashboard
- Sync across multiple browsers or devices
- Export, labels, search, and cloud PDF storage
Local highlighting works without signing in. See Local highlighting vs cloud sync.
Sign in from the sidebar
- Open the ZetaMarker sidebar on any web page or PDF.
- Click Login in the user menu (or click the sync icon when it shows Sync: Not active).
- A sign-in window opens at
/app/login. - Enter email and password, or click Continue with Google.
- After success, the window closes and the extension stores your session.
The sidebar shows your name and Sync: Synced when connected.
What happens after login
- ZetaMarker fetches your account entitlements (trial, subscription, migration status).
- An initial sync runs — local highlights on open pages may upload to the cloud.
- The sync indicator in the sidebar reflects current state. See Cloud synchronization.
If cloud sync is blocked (trial expired, migration required), you will see an account toast with next steps.
Sign out
Use Logout in the sidebar user menu. Local highlights on the current device remain; cloud sync stops until you sign in again.
You can also choose Continue without cloud sync on some account messages to stay in local mode without logging out globally.
Troubleshooting
