Add page notes

Page notes are separate from highlight comments — they apply to the whole page (article, PDF, or URL) and appear in the sidebar and dashboard library.

Prerequisites

• At least one highlight on the page (notes save and sync only when the page has highlights)
• Optional: Sign in from the extension for cloud sync

Add notes in the extension

1. Open the ZetaMarker sidebar on the page.
2. Find the Notes section below the page title.
3. Click Notes to expand (auto-expanded if a note already exists).
4. Click Add notes and type in the text area.
5. Click outside the field — the note collapses and saves automatically.

The placeholder text is Add notes...

Add notes in the dashboard

1. Sign in at /app.
2. Open a page in the page detail view.
3. Scroll to the Notes section.
4. Type your note — the dashboard shows Saving... while it persists.

Sync behavior

• Local-only: notes stay in browser storage with the page.
• Cloud sync: notes sync to the dashboard when signed in and the page has highlights.
• Renaming the page or editing notes does not change your highlights.

Note: If you add notes before creating any highlights, the text may appear in the sidebar but will not persist until you add at least one highlight.
