Install the extension

Install ZetaMarker from the Chrome Web Store or Firefox Add-ons (desktop and Android), pin it on desktop, and open the post-install welcome guide.

Install ZetaMarker to highlight web pages in your browser. On desktop, you can also highlight PDFs in the extension. On Firefox for Android, highlighting is for web pages (phones and tablets).

Choose your browser

Chrome and other Chromium browsers

  1. Open the ZetaMarker listing in the Chrome Web Store.
  2. Click Add to Chrome (or Add to Edge / Add to Brave / Add to Opera on Chromium browsers).
  3. Confirm the install prompt.

The same Chrome Web Store listing works on Edge, Brave, Opera, and other Chromium-based browsers.

Firefox desktop

  1. Open the ZetaMarker listing on Firefox Add-ons.
  2. Click Add to Firefox.
  3. Confirm the permission prompt.

Firefox for Android

  1. Open the ZetaMarker listing on Firefox Add-ons for Android.
  2. Tap Add to Firefox.
  3. Confirm the install prompt.

On Android there is no pin step. After install, open a page and tap the ZetaMarker icon at the bottom of the page to enable highlighting on that site. See the Android welcome guide.

Pin the extension (desktop)

After install on Chrome, Edge, Brave, Opera, or Firefox desktop, pin ZetaMarker so it stays visible:

  1. Open the browser’s extensions menu (puzzle icon on Chromium, extensions control on Firefox).
  2. Find ZetaMarker.
  3. Pin it (or add it to the toolbar).

Pinned access makes it easier to activate ZetaMarker and open the sidebar on desktop.

First install welcome tab

On a fresh install, ZetaMarker opens a short getting started page on the marketing site:

Those pages walk you through enable → first highlight → optional cloud sync. They link here for deeper guides — they do not replace the docs.

When you upgrade from extension v7.x to the rebuilt extension, ZetaMarker may open a what's new page:

What to do next

  1. Highlight text on a web page
  2. Desktop: Open the sidebar to browse highlights on the current page
  3. Optional: Create your account and sign in from the extension for cloud sync

You do not need an account for local highlighting. See Local highlighting vs cloud sync.
