Install and pin the extension

Install the ZetaMarker extension to highlight web pages and PDFs directly in your browser.

Install from the Chrome Web Store

1. Open the ZetaMarker listing in the Chrome Web Store.
2. Click Add to Chrome (or Add to Edge / Add to Brave on Chromium browsers).
3. Confirm the install prompt.

Dedicated extensions for Firefox and other browsers are coming soon. Until then, install the Chrome listing on Edge, Brave, Opera, or any other Chromium-based browser — it is the same extension.

Pin the extension

After install, pin ZetaMarker so it stays visible in your toolbar:

1. Click the puzzle icon (extensions menu) in the browser toolbar.
2. Find ZetaMarker - PDF & Web Highlighter.
3. Click the pin icon next to it.

Pinned access makes it easier to open the sidebar and highlight text.

First install welcome tab

On a fresh install, ZetaMarker opens a short getting started page on the marketing site:

https://www.zetamarker.com/{locale}/getting-started?source=extension

That page walks you through pin → first highlight → sidebar → optional cloud sync. It links to docs for deeper guides — it does not replace them.

Major extension update welcome tab

When you upgrade from extension v7.x to the rebuilt extension, ZetaMarker opens a what's new page on the marketing site:

That page explains what changed, why, and a short checklist to restore cloud sync and refresh open tabs. See the post-update welcome guide.

What to do next

1. Highlight text on a web page
2. Open the sidebar to browse highlights on the current page
3. Optional: Create your account and sign in from the extension for cloud sync

You do not need an account for local highlighting. See Local highlighting vs cloud sync.
